Returns & Warranty Policy

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

Returns of Faulty Products

Major Failures

If the problem is major, you are entitled to a replacement, repair or refund. Examples of major failure are when the product:

  • has a problem that would have stopped you buying it had you known about it;
  • is unsafe;
  • is significantly different from the description of the product; or
  • doesn’t do what we said it would do,

but does not include damage caused by misuse or returns simply due to change of mind.

Other Warranty Claims

Obvious Tool Co. provides a warranty for all products for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Please note our product warranty will not apply if we deem the product has been misused, neglected or tampered with, which includes any of the following:

  • repairs or modifications made to the product by any person other than Obvious Tool Co.;
  • operation of the product outside normal construction use;
  • not taking precautionary measures to prevent damage occurring to the product (i.e., placing blades or sharp chisels directly inside pouches without additional covers);
  • storing the product inappropriately;
  • hanging nail guns or other heavy items on the products;
  • accidental damage or damage caused by environmental events;
  • natural ageing of the product (e.g., stretching or fading of leather/nylon);
  • damage caused by excessive heat or cold; or
  • normal wear and tear.

If the product has not suffered a major failure (as described above) and we deem the product warranty will apply, we may choose to give you a replacement of the product instead of a refund if this is possible. If we cannot replace the product within a reasonable time, we will offer to provide you with a refund.

As noted above, we reserve the right to refuse to provide a refund, repair or replacement if the problem has, for instance, arisen because the product was misused by the customer.

 

If you need to make a warranty claim, please complete the form on our Contact page to being the claim request. . Please include your order number and a description of the issues you're having. We'll aim to get back to you as soon as possible to work out whether or not your issue is covered by our warranty. 

Please note that you will be liable for all costs associated with shipping your product back to us in order for us to fully assess and process your warranty claim. Whether or not you are eligible for a warranty claim, we will cover the shipping costs of getting your gear back out to you, however we won't refund the shipping costs from the original order. 

Exchanges & 'change of mind' returns

We know things don't always go to plan when shopping online. We are happy to arrange an exchange or provide store credit for your purchase if you have accidentally bought the wrong product or the wrong size. Carefully read the information below before heading over to our Contact page to lodge an exchange/return via the contact form.

To be eligible for an exchange/return, you must meet and adhere to the following criteria:

  • The request must be lodged via our Contact page within 30 days of your order date (please include your order number in the request).
  • The product(s) must be unused and in original condition.
  • Shipment of the product(s) back to our address will be at cost to the customer. We recommend using a parcel service with tracking, as we are not liable for returns that do not make it to our address.

We will inspect the product(s) upon arrival to ensure that it meets the criteria above, and approve or decline your exchange/return request. Please allow up to 3 business days from arrival at our HQ for your request to be processed.

  • If your request is approved, our team will process the request. In the case of an exchange, the postage back to the customer is free of charge. Please note: if we are unable to fulfil your exchange request, we will be in contact to arrange either a refund or another exchange option. If a refund is given, only the original purchase price of the item/s will be refunded, shipping costs will not be refunded.
  • If your request is declined, the product(s) will be shipped back to the customer
